The Rotary Club of Stranraer held the fourth annual MarathonTrail race on Saturday 11 June with entries again being higher than the previous year. 20 runners were taken by bus to start from the Mull of Galloway with a further 38 walkers/runners starting from Sandhead.

The trail was in good order and while the day started off cool and dull later in the day warm sunshine welcomed the participants to the barbeque at the end of the course at the Harbour Master's office in Stranraer.

The winner of the long course was Rick Williams with a record time of 3hr 37min with the first female runner being Frances Butler with a time of 4hr 20min. The short course was won by Steven McKillop in 1hr 15min with the first female being Rowan Armstrong also in 1hr 15min.

The barbeque was well attended with the participants being joined by Rotarians and friends. The event is attracting walkers and runners from various parts of the country and serves to showcase the area and the trail.
