Improvements funded by Cairnryan Community Fund at Beoch and Several Burns
Walkers were having difficulties at the Beoch and Several Burns south of Cairnryan due to the burns changing course and diverting away from the bridges. There was also erosion on the banks of the burns especially around the bridges. The members of the Rotary Club of Stranraer were delighted that a grant of £1410 was awarded by the Cairnryan Community Fund. Funding of £450 had also been received from Cairnryan Community Council and these funds covered the cost of straightening the burns and placing 12 large stones along the banks at the two bridges. The stones had been donated by Breedon Group plc from the Barlockhart Quarry and transported free of charge to the path by Rotarian Hugh Parker. The work was carried out by local firm Donnan Construction Ltd.
The club members are very grateful for the support from Cairnryan Community Fund and Cairnryan Community Council which enabled this important work to be carried out ensuring that walkers are able to cross both burns safely even after heavy rain.
