Improvements funded by Kilgallioch Community Fund
The members of the Rotary Club of Stranraer were delighted to be awarded last year a grant of £9740 to cover the cost of much needed improvements to the trail. The works which were carried by Luce Plant Hire Ltd were recenty completed and have greatly improved walking conditions on three sections of the route.
A new path was created along the road verge north of Clashwhannon Caravan Park where walkers previously had to walk on the road where traffic is fast moving and visibitity restricted. On the steep path from the lay-by at Dyemill up into the wood new steps have been created and new steps have also been made in Longrigg Plantation as well as a new hand rail being erected at that location.
There is no doubt that these improvements are making the going much easier for walkers and most importantly safety is now much better.
The Rotary Club gratefully appreciates the funding from Kilgallioch Community Fund which has covered the costs of these important works.
