Improvements to the Loch Ryan Coastal Path
Following the construction of a new wind farm adjacent to the route on the Glenapp section some problems were encountered due to work carried out by Scottish Power. Following site meetings with officials from the company changes were made which has remedied the difficulties which had been faced by walkers. Two new kissing gates were installed with another being removed. In addition a stile was erected beside the new double gates south of the radio mast.
Scottish Power also agreed to provide finance to improve two wet area on the path. Work on the one north of the radio mast would be carried out by South Ayrshire Council and the Rotary Club would employ a contractor on the one south of the mast. Permission from the landowner is presently awaited.
An application for grant funding has been made to Carrick Futures to assist with the cost of improvements to the route where it crosses the March Burn. A decision is expected by May 2018.
