Newton Stewart Walking Festival
In May last year the Newton Stewart Walking Festival included a walk on part of the Mull of Galloway Trail for the first time. Robert Clark and Tom Stevenson led a party of 24 walkers from New England Bay but due to atrocious weather conditions 16 walkers gave up at Drummore leaving the remaining eight to battle on through wind and rain to the Mull.
Due to demand a similar walk was held on 10 May 2014 which was again led by Robert Clark and Tom Stevenson. Fortunately the weather was much more favourable with only a light shower in the afternoon. The walkers enjoyed the information boards on this section of the trail and they also had the benefit of a representative from the RSPB who pointed out various birds along the route. All 21 walkers arrived safely at the Mull and had time to go either to the RSPB Centre or enjoy refreshments at Gallie Craig Coffee House before returning by bus to Newton Stewart.
